this is quite a bit lighter in color than i am used to in the style, copper more than brown, but all of the right aromas and flavors are present, and this was one of the tastier and more drinkable beers they had working while i was here. nice inch of off white head on it, some haze for sure, but it still appears very light in color. the aroma is a mild toasted wheat profile with the usual banana yeast element there as well. its more mild than many, and they did not have a normal hefe on to compare it with, but it seemed nicely understated and tame on the fruit esters. it lets the darker grain shine a little bit, nutty and a tad sweet and caramelized, but still wheaty and fresh at the same time, i like this lighter take on it. i wish it had more bubbles though, i really like these to crank carbonation, so even decent carbonation here seems a little flat, but the lighter body keeps it very drinkable still. overall a well done brew, they did the german styles almost as well as the belgian ones, and look to have a bright future ahead of them.
