my first beer from these guys and i liked it pretty well, but i was anticipating a much more evolved brett brux complexion, it tastes brand new, that cant be the only yeast in here, and if it is, well then it certainly doesnt seem to have been given ideal conditions for its development. that said, i like the idea of subtle brett in hoppy beers, i think this hasnt been explored nearly enough, so i appreciate this even if its a little less dialed in than it could be. a little murky on the pour, not a ton of head after a minute, and a somewhat deeper bronze color than i was anticipating. the hops are nice in aroma and flavor, largely dry hopped it seems, with very low bitterness and a real fruity profile from pineapple to peach to fresh florida orange juice. the brett aspect adds a little white wine character and a dirty sort of funk, not as rustic or outright musty and funky as i like from this strain generally, just tastes too new. still, i like the fruitiness it adds to the hop complexion, and think they are on to something with this. perhaps a little more time to let the brett do its thing next time, but its got all the makings of an awesome beer when they get it perfected...
