L: Pours a deep and dark orange in appearance. Looks like thick and milky orange juice with zero clarity. No head on the pour and very minimal lacing. Looks like a dull cup of orange juice.
S: Orange present on the nose with background notes of vanilla. Lactose is evident but not overly sweet. Smells nice, and smells better the more I get accustomed to it. No off putting aromas or detectible stray aromas.
T: Rather tasty to be honest. Orange flavor is dominant and conveyed in natural fashion. The vanilla really comes through on the finish and lingers in the after taste. I mostly notice the milk sugar at the finish as well, and it carries over to the after taste meshing well with the orange and vanilla. It does give the flavor of an orange julius.
F: Darn good. Full, soft, creamy and outright milkshakey. Carbonation is on the lower side, but I actually think that it works well here. For 8.5%, the booze is totally concealed.
O: I am not the biggest fan of NEIPAs in the milkshake style, but I gotta say, State brewing did some good things with this brew. The flavors are all there, and equally balanced. Drinks very smooth and easy for a beer of this stature. I am very glad to try. Cheers!
