500 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2018 vintage bottling. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart/tangy lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, citrus peel, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, and white bread; with light notes of honey, vanilla, pepper, leathery/musty funk, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/light acidic yeast, yuzu, oak, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart/tangy lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, citrus peel, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, and white bread; with light notes of honey, vanilla, pepper, leathery/musty funk, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness; light fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, citrus peel, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white wine, hay, straw, grass, oak, wheat, white bread, light funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/light acidic yeast, yuzu, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth moderately crisp/grainy, fairly acidic, and lightly sticky/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is an excellent fruited sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/light acidic yeast, yuzu, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the mellowly acidic/tannic/drying finish, never overly lactic. Was expecting more acidity, but this was pleasing. Great balance of Brett/Lacto and yuzu fruit complexity; nice oak presence and malt backbone against acidity. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.
