Colour: brownish ruby, slightly hazy
Beige foam, minimal, forming just a thin ring around the rim of the glass.
Aroma: it's delectable here, campfire smoke, juniper needles, roast potato ash, dried Californian plum and caramel. All the aromas blend and complement each other wonderfully.
Taste: mega complex, just as sensational as in the aroma. Here we have fire with burnt juniper, lots of ash, dried plums again, a fair amount of caramel and some liquorice. I'm not a fan of sweet beers but here the bitterness comes to the rescue to counteract the excess sweetness of the caramel.
The bitterness may not be impressively high but it's still enough to soften the caramel. It lingers gently, is dry, burnt, simply focal.
Saturation: high, improves drinkability.
Alcohol: perfectly hidden.
It is a very substantial and oily beer. Even after the first sip, the 'campfire ash' remains on your lips.
