Poured out a 12 oz. green glass bottle into one of my pokal glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with lots of streams of little bubbles fairly rapidly and continually rising to the beer's surface. Has a white head that's about an inch thick when first poured that settles to a fairly thick surface coating of a film layer of foam, a thick ring lining the inside of the glass, and pretty nice lacing. Aromas of some somewhat bready, grainy malts, perhaps a hint of wheat, and a bit of an earthy hop presence. The aromas should be stronger overall though I think. Has a somewhat bready and grainy malts with what I think is a bit of wheat along with the aforementioned earthy hops. A pretty simple and straight foward flavor profile. Has a crisp, yet smooth and frothy, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a somewhat bready, grainy, earthy aftertaste. Really not bad at all here.

What with today being the occasion of New Beer Sunday (Week 654), I have decided to go with an homage to the now-defunct Lauzus Hotel & Bar here in Lancaster, PA. I was vaguely aware of their eclectic selection of imported & foreign beers growing up, but they were prohibitively expensive for us underage beer drinkers. It wasn't until after my first overseas deployment in the Navy & my exposure to Chimay that I got hip to going in there while home on leave or weekends. This one came courtesy of my local, in-person trader, tone77.

From the bottle: "Made with water from pristine nature"; "Traditionally brewed with love since 1825"; "Premium Quality".

Having Pop!ped the cap, I felt that a slow, gentle pour was in order since this was an overseas guest at Chez Woody & I wanted to make it feel welcome. A vigorous in-glass swirl raised just under two fingers of foamy, fizzy, eggshell-white head with moderate retention. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, prompting a drop-in from The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Croesus & Midas, all clamoring for a sip. Nose took me back to the early days of The CANQuest (tm), with the plethora of AALs on the market at the time. This had the clean, honey-like smell of unadulterated lager along with a bready maltiness. Actually, both the honey & bread smells were probably malt-driven. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but nothing to get perked up about, either. The taste was on the sweet side, very honey-like, with a delicate flowery, perfume-y quality, like lavender or something along those lines. It was an interesting departure from the norm. Finish was a little too far over on the sweet side for my taste, but that is personal preference while YMMV. It was eminently drinkable & if I find it in a CAN, I will be sure to snap one up!

Poured from a green 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, sweet. Taste is crisp, malts, grains, light buscuit , very refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is highly crushable and a good example of the style.

This beer exceeded my expectations. It is a pretty palatable euro lager.

It ain't pretty. 3 was generous. Her teeth need fixed. It's just a bit dark yellow and there isn't much foam. There isn't much aroma either, just a hint of finishing hops.

The taste excels, though, where the presentation is weak. It's sweet with just a bit of hops. Distinctive and well-made/healthy tasting. It has a freshness to it though I think the bottle is very old.

The aftertaste is funky sweet and tangy. It's refreshing. I wouldn't recommend this, but I might buy it again, especially for $4.99 a six.

From the bottle, it pours a golden color with a nice white head. Definite grass in the nose. Light in flavor as well, easy to drink with no major vices or highlights. Drinkable.

Aroma has a lemony scent to the grassy smell. Taste is tart and sharp, almost feels like a radler. Nice and crisp, and looks great in the pilsener glass. One of the better pale lagers I’ve tried.

Pours a clean golden color, lots of bubbles, and is topped with an average white head.
There is they expected grainy and malty aroma, mild, but still enough to be easily picked up.
The taste is slighty sweet at first, followed by balanced body and moderate bitterness in the finish. A slight metallic finish, perhaps.
Not that different from its more famous friend Laško Zlatorog, except slightly more metaly in the end.
Still nice.

A bottle of this beer found its was back to my home state (Colorado) in a mixed 6-pack from Binny's in Chicago, IL. It's my first Slovenian beer, so I suppose that's pretty neat...this beer had to travel nearly 5500 miles to get to my pint glass! Quite a trek.

It pours a pale straw yellow color, with a sudsy head that takes a few moments to appear. Once it does, though, it hangs around for a while. About what I'd expect from the style, though the stubborn head is a nice surprise. Smells faintly of wet hay, and maybe even a touch of citrus.

Tastes pretty on par for a beer of its style; quite grainy but mild, fresh on the tongue, with a hint of hoppiness and citrus. Just enough carbonation in here to keep things fun.

On the whole, I'd say I liked this faraway beer. I'm not a huge fan of the style, but I can't really say anything bad about this particular example. If I were at a pub that served it, this would make a real nice alternative to, say, a Heineken or a Stella.

It sort of reminded me of Corona. It had a very pale yellow color with a finger and half of white lace with a little bit of lacing. The smell was grassy and a bit adjunct. The flavor was about the same very grassy with a pasture like aftertaste. I wish I would have a lime or lemon.

Admittedly, this is a tick and a curiosity; I believe it's my first ever Slovenian beer. Nothing about it indicates it could impress me, but maybe it'll have a surprise for me.

First surprise: it's not a screw cap. Interesting. On a fairly vigorous pour, it actually does form a decently fluffy and craggy pure white head, even reaching near a full finger tall. It does drop quickly, though, leaving some soapy foam on top. The beer itself is a dull, hazy pale yellow. Lacing is left spottily in decent quantity.
The smell is no surprise: it's straight-up sulfur, grains and herb. A light metallic note is there along with it. Some husk is noted and a touch of sweet corn.
In the tastge, the metallic element and grains take over, though the grass and herb are certainly there. Some creamed corn and husk sneak in too. I defini9tely detect the use of Saaz hops, however light.
The feel is crisp in a very light body, and leaning dry rather than slick. It is a little watery leaning into the finish, though there's actually something decent to it into the middle.

Well, I guess there wasn't much to surprise me with this one.

This was was one of only two brands of Slovenian beer I ever saw in Ljubljana or Bled while in Slovenia. This is a tasty beer, but a bit too hoppy for me. It would mess with my stomach a bit; albeit after 8 or 9 or them. All in all, a very good beer based on the traditional European style and taste. You'll enjoy it and it gives a good buzz with good abv and hops to kick it all in.

A - Three fingers of frothy yet fast disappearing white head. Clear and bubbly, golden amber in colour.

S - Some floral sweetness, a bit skunky.

T - Just very mild in every way. Low sweet malt with some lemon juice.

M - Watery thin, with moderate carbonation levels. Mild bitter finish.

O - As with any crap beer, it gets worse as it warms but as long as this is cold it is drinkable.

11.2 oz green bottle. No sign of a date. It pours a clear gold with a foamy white head. It is skunked. Skunky fart aroma emanates from the beer. The company is killing it self by not putting it in a brown bottle. The flavor retains some of the skunk along with a predominantly malt base. There is some paper, pale malt, and a hint of bitterness in the flavor. Just not worth it with the green bottle.

Lasko Club Export

Pours a clear straw, small white head forms and then recedes to nothing. Aroma of saaz/tettnang style hops, alittle skunky. The flavor is clean, earthy hop bitterness and pale malt. Cracker/biscuity malt and an even hop flavor. Mouthfeel is light bodied and crisp. Overall, a cleaner version of a Heineken, euro lager all the way.

This is a really common beer in the former Yugoslavia.

This is a pretty pale lager with a thin bubbly head and lots of carbonation.

The smell is sweet and grainy and slightly roasty. A nice surprise.

I'm disappointed by the flavour here. There is hardly any! It's mostly like fizzy water. There is the same roasty aroma towards the end, but this is still a pretty boring beer.

I specially like grainy flavors with some very small amounts of a citrus bitterness that gave it a slightly sweet and fruity undertone. It is not so different than Laško Zlatorog, but with not so bitter taste. Much more drinkable. Pours a very light golden color with a rapidly disappearing foamy white head.

Appearance - Mostly hazy, light orange to lemon-aide color. Some sediment floating about. White head that consisted of some very large bubbles. The head stuck around for a minute, but it was not overly large nor did it leave a tremendous amount of lacing.

Smell - The aroma presented a grainy note mixed with hints of grass. Somewhat of a fresh "hay" smell also. Almost smells like freshly chopped corn silage.

Taste - The taste brought forth the grainy flavors with a very small amount of a citrus bitterness that gave it a slightly sweet and fruity undertone. Again, more of the hay flavoring. Not real bad, but nothing that knocks my socks off.

Mouthfeel - Medium/thin mouthfeel. Crisp and refreshing. Smooth, but somewhat watery. doesn't cover the palate extremely well.

Drinkability - This beer is mostly average to me. It is very easy to drink and would make for an ideal Summer brew due to its refreshing and thirst quenching qualities. I probably wouldn't seek this out, but if it was available, I'd drink it.

Exceptional only for its blandness. Poured a pale straw. Some sweet grain in the aroma. A bit thin in body, with mild sweetish-grain notes and a touch of apple juice. Finish was clean, with a bit of a seltzery feel. Not the worst, but had one, now moving on . . . .

Drank from the can on the way to Dubrovnik.

A: Can looks like some sort of cheap soda. Pouring it into a small cup it's a bright clear pale.

S: Kind of soury. Touch of grain. Not much else.

T: Very watery. Hint of some sort of grain maybe and a light sweetness. This is almost exactly like a Bud Light.

Though a good use of my last very few Bosnian markas (with some leftover pocket change in the town of Neum), this is not something I would look for anywhere else. Best beer from region comes from Bosnia

Half-litre can, with that worldly affectation of printing 'Beer' in various languages around the lip...

This beer pours a clear pale straw colour, with one finger of fluffy white head, which leaves a decent panel of lace around the glass as it slinks away. It smells of biscuity, crackery grain, and mild grassy, earthy hops. The taste is mildly sweet barley grain, and floral lea-esque, grassy hops. The carbonation is moderate, the body medium weight, decently smooth for a lager, and yet still adequately crisp. It finishes fairly dry, the musky floral, earthy hops showing up the rest.

An interesting, drinkable take on the broad spectrum of the Euro Pale Lager - the unfortunately expected skunk is practically non-existent, and the hops do something proper hop-like. Huh - who knew?

Pours a clean, pale yellow color with a white head. In the aroma, saaz hops, a sweet malt, and a small skunk like smell. In the taste, watery, a small sweet malt and a small hop bite. A small bite and light bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry to clean aftertaste. Standard export lager, nothing impressive.

Live review. Poured from the green 12 oz. bottle that I was given by some friends of mine last week into my Cooperstown Beverage Trail pint glass. No observed "best by" date but the friends who gave it to me reported that they recently bought it.

A Crystal clear. I mean CRYSTAL clear, very light yellow body under a brief, bubbly white head. Rather typical for the style but I am not impressed. 2.5

S Corn with almost no hops. Again, fairly typical for the style but I am not very impressed with the smell. It is certainly not inspiring. 2.5

T Kind of a corn based lager with possibly a whisp of lemony citrus taste. I do not taste any hops. These features are typical of the style I would say. 3.0

M Very, very thin with only a hint of honey stickiness in the aftertaste. There is really not much to the feel but again, it is what I now expect from the style. 3.0

D It is supposed to be quite good I am sure but there is not enough here for me to want to seek it out again. 2.0

500ml can poured into pint glass july12 2010

A clear pale yellow with a good amount of carbonation floating up to a fast falling thumbs width of head that leaves no lace

S sweet grains with a little grassy hops and just a little skunk

T not far off the smell but with a little corn flakes perhaps

M thin with decent carbonation and the flavors linger for longer then expected

D pretty average beer, nothing overly offensive but not excelling in any area either

I doubt I'll be drinking this again anytime soon, I guess it's one way to knock a country of the list but I wouldn't go looking for it if I was you
