Dark intense colour, with a small head, quickly disappearing.
Smells like dark chocolate, coffee, spices.
Taste: liquorice, acid, spicy on the end. You can feel the coffee, the pepper and the chili.
A stout that differs in taste and general impression from a classic one. Nice and tasteful experiment!

Looks delicious. Off black with creamy mocha head that fades away quickly. I guess the problem with that is the habanero pepper. Smells spicy: cinnamon, good hints of citric vanilla + some nutmeg and maybe some milky caramel too.
Taste follows but with less complexity. Very light at first, with caramel, sweet vanilla cookie. The big problem comes at the end. The Habanero kicks in with harshness. What at first was a very delicate brew, ends up with just the pepper.
Medium body with low carbonation. In my opinion a little less pepper and a lot more body would make this one of the best stouts around.

Batch 2. Dark brown color, tan head. Aroma has lots of spices, mostly nutmeg and cinnamon with a hint of chili. Taste follows with the nutmeg and cinnamon with cacao on top, high quality dark chocolate, very balanced between sweet and bitter, light chili heat on the finish. Medium body, smooth mouthfeel. A good step forward from the first batch.
Batch 1. Black color, mocha head. Aroma has some acidic malt, slight chili character and some bitter chocolate acidity. Taste is also quite acidic, spicy with some cinnamon and the aftertaste has medium chili heat. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation. Overall it's quite good and with some tweaking it could get great. Rating 3.75.
