A - Nice ruby/brown translucent body that lets a bit of light through it. Carbonation is high enough upon pouring for a fizzy finger's worth of head to develop, which has good retention and a fair bit of lacing.
S - Nothing too exceptional in the aroma. The malts smell fresh with a spicy edge to them, almost has a biscuit smell to it.
T - The palate is pretty interesting. On the first pass it doesn't really leave an impression due to how subtle it is, however with a few more passes you start to pick up on different layers. Has a normal brown ale backbone to it, however the spices certainly add a lot of character to the base. I get some roasted malts that come through into the finish. There is an unidentifiable sweetness that peeks all throughout the taste, some sort of dark fruit that's hard to put a finger on. The finish ends on a grainy and bittersweet note.
M/D - Medium bodied with quite a bit of carbonation that doesn't offset the weight of the body, which is quite full. Nice smoothness to it.
O - I'm glad I picked one of these up to try. The taste is interesting and certainly isn't what I expected for a brown ale.

Pours a dark ruby hue with a very nice looking head and some nice lacing as well.
The aroma is fairly rich and equally subtle. It's got it's share of spiciness as well as a good amount of malt character. Hops also add a bit of floral character.
The taste is a bit like a belgian dubbel and a bit like a brown ale at the same time. The brown ale is more or less the foundation, but there's notes of bubblegum like I've only tasted in dubbels. The beer comes across as a bit sweet at first, but then it works it's way into a bittersweet richness. The hops come out a bit after and there's a grainy taste almost like a pilsner after. The style seems more of a hybrid than anything. While it's classified as a brown ale, it seemed all over the place.
The body is a medium weight, with a tad more fullness. Carbonation is active while being quite gentle. The finish is moderately dry and sticky.
Overall, this was a cool beer to try. I wasn't blown away, but it was worth the price, and an interesting limited brew. At 6%, it's also fairly flavorful, and the drinkability is right where it should be.
