Copenhagen 27/8 2019. 33 cl bottle from Meny, Rotunden, Hellerup. Drawing of what looks like the Love Child og Gas flask and a Rocket on the label.
Pours unclear light brown with big white head. Settles as 1cm thick layer of foam. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial Lacing.
Aroma is fruity, sweet and with a lightly roasted touch. Caramel, light roast. Sweet Peach and Pear. Light tart notes. Unripe berries.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a medium strong citric bitterness. Aftertaste is tartly bitter. Lingers for a bit. Semi-dry finish.
Actually lives up to what they write on the label: “Red Session IPA”. Got the fruitiness and citric hop profile of an IPA and the light roastiness of an Amber Ale. A nice combination even though a little thin.

I had this beer on-tap in a straight-sided glass at the brewery in Marvila.
Appearance: medium amber hue with a dash of haze and a thin layer of ivory foam atop.
Smell: sweet caramelly malt aroma with some slightly citrusy hops.
Taste: caramel malt with a moderate sweetness and a bitterness befitting an IPA. There's also a hint of citrusy fruitiness here - it's not too bad.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and a nice creaminess.
Overall: amber ale or red IPA; whatever you care to call this, it's not too bad.

500ml keg from Musa das Virtudes, Porto (€5.10):
Copper amber with a thin, creamy white lacing & nice shtick on the sides. Bread malts & light caramel on the nose with background hops but generally quite light. The taste is slightly more bitter with bread & earthy malts, a tiny bit of caramel sweetness but it's the earthy bitterness that dominates. The mouthfeel is clean & the body medium but it's basically a run of the mill Irish red ale for me; disappointing.

enjoyed at Crafty Corner (must visit when in Lisbon)
a) Pours a copper body with off-white large head, on draft, laces decently.
s) Smells interesting, typical red ale, malts, sweetness, cola, but tempered by grassy hop.
t) A bit sweet, malty, tempered by hop bittering.
f) Thinner than I like, but clean, well carbed.
o) great aroma, decent red ale.

Reddish brown, beige foam.
Malty smell, some caramel, and then a good hop, resinous and grassy, for a good balance.
In the taste a lot of caramel, and a strong taste of tamarind. And a finish bitterness, strong and very long.
Here, some lack of balance, too full bodied.
Not a bad beer per se, but too heavy for a ssession IPA. It lacks of freshness. It is maybe more in the line of a red ale.

Speckly amber. 3.75
Copper penny and orange rind. 3.5
Crystal, some autumn leaf, tart hit, and vague resin. 3.25
Thin and sharp. 3.25
Citra, Summit, Simcoe, Centennial
More Irish Red than anything; none of those lovely hops. A sour acid hit that shouldn’t be there, too. Try again. 3.5

Poured to a nonic glass. While the bottle was opened up, it basically exploded in my hand - too much carbonation.
A: This beer is composed with a copper body and a white head. The head has really minor retention since when I poured it was like 5 ou 6 fingers thick but after a couple minutes none of it is left. But at least there's lots of lacing here.
S: The aromas are very interesting, having a mixture of slightly roasted malts with some toffee on top. On the back, you can feel some hops' freshness.
T: I find this IPA to be very sweet, having a big big profile of sweetness coming from the malt, specially by using slightly roasted malts enhancing the starches. Then, the bitterness is surprisingly mild since you'd expect this to have a much bigger hops profile.
M: Body is medium to medium low. Carbonation is high, a bit too high causing some harshness on mouth. Bitterness is mild.
O: Would love to find an aroma could have some kind of impersonation on the taste. This beer's aroma is very interesting and they could start their work right from there.

Portuguese Red Session IPA.
Dark red with shades of orange body a whitey foam, not too bright.
Smell and taste are a mix between red ales and IPAs: nicely hoppy, citric but not too herbaceous; fruity, with notes of citrus, especially citrus peel, and hints of red fruits. Some caramel notes too, almost at the aftertae; aftertaste is dry and bitter.
Feel is average, balanced between sweetness, bitterness, body and carbonation. I would prefere it more bitter.
