Quad Decocted Doppelbock.

Brewed for doom metal band YOB. Deep and intense; extensively cold-conditioned, epic, crushing, and heavy beyond words.

Cookie dough! Pours a clear dark brown with beige foam in the Leuete Bokbier glass. Lovely aroma of roasted malt, sugar cookies, and raisin bread. Lush and sudsy in the mouth. Sweet, strong, grainy, and highly sippable. Overall this is distinctive and robustly flavored Doppelbock. From the 16 oz can purchased in Southern Calif. Dated 11/21/25.

Look: Mahogany on the pour and amber in the glass with a lofty beige head that quickly erupts to the rim, slowly settling to leave great lacing behind

Aroma: Warm brown bread, raw bread dough, toffee, melanoidin, toasted bread crust, and light floral hop notes

Taste: Opens up like the nose did with a full-on assault of malt, bringing bread in every facet to the palate; dough, crust, and baking bread, and begin to deepen. Toffee and floral hops enter the scene in the middle and mingle as the bready adventure continues to tantalize as the flavors deepen and closes with a mix of floral hop notes

Mouthfeel: Full, clean, smooth, medium-high carbonation, and clean, smooth, and soft on the finish

Overall: This is some tasty stuff. I love Doppelbocks and what these folks do with their lager game so grabbed this new-to-me beer to review and glad I did. It’s a well-made and delicious Doppel that never lets off of the gas with its bread-driven malt and is way too smooth, clean, and easy to drink at 7.7%. Recommended

leave it to my wife to order the doppelbock whenever we see one on a beer menu, bless her. this one is fire, heavy, wintery, and as authentic as it gets here in the states. they say its four times decocted, pretty cool, its certainly obvious that its a decoction mash, four times i dont know anything about, not sure i have heard of more than a double decoction before, obviously they have extracted a whole lot of character from this big meaty grain bill. deeper than brick red, as brown as it is red, with a puffy inch plus of light leather colored head, soapy and lasting. it smells almost smoked, rich and long boiled, but also earthy, on the dry side for the style, and nicely lagered and conditioned, seems impossibly clean for what it is, a lager yeast strain familiar to me from their other beers is here, and i get raisin, tobacco, cascara, maple, and date, wow. the body hits when the flavor does, full and frothy, sudsy and earthy and big, but less sweet than many, especially for how flavorful it is, its also almost crisp, wild. toffee and light smoke, old wood, pipe smoke, reading chair, well worn flannel, and lumber splitting maul. tree bark meets birch syrup, dried cherry meets dark bread, and this is one cozy hearty brew, with some amount of alcohol kicking up towards the swallow but never getting hot. lovely sipper in cold weather, so true to style and well executed. our visit here was awesome, cant see coming to portland again without swinging through!

Canned 12/9. Pours a rich dark brown, clean beer. Two fingers of a thick head subsides to a skim coat. Aroma is light yeasty, biscuit dough. Taste is remarkably dry and open, with fine malt flavors complemented with just enough hops to keep things interesting. Very, very long finish which is uncommon for lagers. The 7.7% ABV is well hidden, so be careful. A fine Dopplebock.

Cloudy brown body with a finger of tan foam that fades over time, some inconsistent spotted lacing. Smells of light earth encased in rich caramel, dark fruit, big brown bread and mild dark nuts. Taste is more earthy and bready forward than the nose, dark fruit is dried and faint, caramel, mild dark nuts, a hint of wet wood round out the profile. Feels almost rustic for style, decent chew, kissed by warmth, bready and malty.

This one pours a golden dark amber, with a small white fluffy head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like caramel, nutty malt, an almost woodiness, like cedar, with spice, and lots of breadiness.

This is richly and deeply malty, just super delightful. There's lots of rich breadiness, some spice, a touch of boozy warmth, cedar, dark fruit, and caramel. It's pretty much exactly what I want out of this style.

This is creamy, with a nice spiced warmth to it, with a really nice drinkability.

If you like dopplebocks, I feel like there's no real way you wouldn't like this one.

Pours a dark burgundy with a heavy fog to the transparency. Head is two fingers of off-white foam. Aroma is raisins, fig, toffee, molasses, and soft bready, earthy malts just beyond. Spicy hops develop in the back third, especially as the beer warms. Subtle alcohol undertones at the finish. Flavor profile is spicy and light grassy hops on top of bready, earthy, caramely, and toasty malts. Subtle fig, raisins, and toffee mix it up further, bringing with them a little additional sweetness. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a faint porous texture. Effervescence is soft, but light. Overall, a lot is going on in each sip, but not a lot of depth beyond the surface level.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can.
