Good head production and retention; excellent lacing. Body is a nutty dark caramel color, crystal clear when examined against a bright background.

Sweet and malty nose appropriate for the style, along with a late crisp hop bite. Toffee, prune, pear, flowers, bark, leaves, light chocolate notes, honey. Well balanced.

More bitter up front than I expected, with toasty malt tones following, but never quite losing that bitter edge. This gives it a very clean drinkability. Toast, pine, very light citrus, prune, raisin, nuts.

Very lively; moderate bite.

A very solid Altbier (or Special Lager/Special Edition Lager according to Wayfinder), more bitter than most, but in a pleasant, balanced fashion. Very drinkable.

Beautiful maple syrup amber color that is crystal clear. A smooth and foamy off white head clings to the glass with a decent spotty surface coverage that refuses to depart.

Extra toasted bread with a burnt caramel scent. Roasted chestnuts in the background, finished off with an earthy and dried floral blast.

Toasted white bread continues to dominate over lighter burnt sugars, nuts, and herbs. There's a slight dark fruitiness to it that I can't quite place. Fig? Grape? Somewhere in the between...

A clean beer overall, with wonderful balance. It has a light yet rich feel to it with a dry and crisp finish demanding for another sip.

Another great lager from Wayfinder. These guys are putting themselves on the map quickly and deservedly so. The sum is better than the whole.

Cheers.

A gorgeous dark copper with an off-white head with good retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose is very good. Raw and rustic with a touch of toast and caramel tempered by an earthy, leafy and mildly minty hop character. Burnt toast, mild burnt caramel, a little toffee are all present. The palate opens medium-light in body and moderately carbonated, allowing the malt to shine. Toast, caramel, burnt sugar, all on a light palate with a firm and gorgeous earthy and minty hop accompaniment. Rather rustic with a raw, grainy note present. Drying, mildly bitter on the finish, this is a nice take on the style - the rustic notes really complement the burnt sugar bitterness and sweetness that's present here.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium to dark bronze amber with a fine, two finger white head with great retention and solid lacing; looks nice. Aroma of grainy malt, light dry caramel, apple juice, grassy hops, a bit spicy reminiscent of rye. Flavor is husky, grainy malt, light rye tartness, hints of light fruit and citrus, grassy hops; finishes with grassy hops and dry malt. Medium bodied with light creaminess. An interesting take on the altbier style, not quite authentic, but with quite rustic malt and a mild tartness that tastes a lot like rye, although it is not listed as an ingredient. Spicy and malty with intriguing fruit flavors hovering about but not making clear notes. This was made with a heritage yeast and I hope to taste more beer made from this yeast. Very nice and recommended.
