Epic lager collaboration with Heater Allen Brewing and Bierstadt Lagerhaus
While imbibing many Czech lagers at Resident Culture’s Lager Fest in Charlotte, NC, Ashleigh and Bill from Bierstadt Lagerhaus in Denver, Lisa Allen from Heater Allen in McMinnville and Kevin from Wayfinder reminisced about their favorite places to have a beer in the world. Ashleigh and Bill spoke fondly of the Golden Tiger in Prague. It was decided to join forces and brew an epic collab Czech lager: Polotmavý 13°. The result is a triple-decocted amber lager using a blend of the best floor-malted dark malts from Czechia, and our finest sourced Saaz and Sladek hops. Na zdraví!

Clear amber color with a tall, bright white head. The aroma brings floral hops layered over malty and lightly earthy notes. The flavor stays clean and malt‑forward, with a steady hop bitterness that builds toward the finish. Dry, crisp ending that keeps it easy to drink.

16oz canned 11-24-24. Opened 12-22-24.
2-finger off white head with great staying power. Amber-orange body with perfect clarity. Sticky lacing.
Aromas of clay, sulfur, grain - bread, and light caramel.
Peppery, earthy, and herbal hops. Floral and malty. Malt in the mid-palate is layered and never overly sweet.
Light to light-plus on the body, refreshing, clean, and prickly mouthfeel with medium level of carbonation. Dry finish that lingers with a deft malt / hop balance.
Phenomenal beer.
Outstanding.

This beer rocks. Wayfinder Czech and German styles are so well done, this actually tastes like beer in Prague. It’s very tasty and easy to have several of.

Look: Clear amber with red hues and the pour begins the formation of a sudsy off-white head that lingers before settling to a lid, leaving nice lacing coating the glass
Aroma: Freshly baked bread, sourdough starter, toasted bread crust, floral hops, light toffee, cereal grains, and some caramel
Taste: Rich bready malt with hints of sourdough and toasted bread get it started and soon followed by a wave of floral hops that bring bearded iris, European olive, and butterfly bush to the table. Toffee and caramel weave in and out before closing with another blast of floral hops and bread
Mouthfeel: Full but light, very clean, medium-high carbonation, and clean and crisp on the finish
Overall: This is quite delicious. I scored this mainly because I’d never had it and love Wayfinder but only realized later it was also a collaboration that included my favorite lager brewer in the state so my expectations were high and can say, happily met. Tons of bready goodness along with a little sourdough and plenty of floral hops that come together in a great and tasty package

A Tavour Treat. Pours a golden color with a minimal head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of breads and grasses. Taste is tangy and has a hoppy bitterness at the finish. Crisp and dry.

Dark amber clear brew with some coarse foam in the big Duvel tulip. Soft and tangy in the mouth with pleasant slushy carbonation. Aroma of bread and something burnt. Flavor is dark grain with corn grits. A leafy, herbal bite of hops. Rather bitter aftertaste. An interesting brew, but astringent and way more bitter than I would like, considering the fleeting aromatics. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine down south. Dated 12/16/22.
