Altar of Shadows, made in collaboration with TPK Brewing, is a pale wheat lager delicately adorned with cinnamon, its soft layers unfolding like flickering candles on a quiet altar. Subtle, warm, and beguiling, it is brewed with care and reverence as an offering to those on the other side.

Murky but translucent golden body, white head, spotted lacing. Aromas of cinnamon... in a lager. And yet, I don't hate it, brings out the citrus more with wheat, pale hops, and wild honeycomb accompanying. Taste again I am drawn to the cinnamon that is simultaneously odd and soothing, binding the autumnal flavors of the lager to it, especially the sweeter malts, pie crust, with the wheat and fruity hops contrasting softly. Feel is light and pale with a malt sweetness and cinnamon finish. This was an odd one... and yet I kind of loved it. Keep doing weird autumnal lagers please!

16oz can
Pours two big fingers of dense, creamy white head into my Willi. Retention is decent. Lacing is good. Body is pale yellow, crystal clear, with a hefty nucleation. Looks nice.
Nose has a good rustic feel to it - notes of cracker, bread, some hay. It’s a unique, stiff maltiness, despite the lighter profile. Not getting any cinnamon flavors.
Flavor also has a forward maltiness, briefly rich, drinks clean and balanced.
Carbonation is medium. Body is relatively light. Bitterness is low. Well-attenuated. Mouthfeel is solid.
Drinkability is great.
Overall this has a nice malty foundation but drinks clean and well-attenuated like a lager should. Enjoyable.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 10/10/25.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a clear body and a thick cap of frothy ivory foam atop.
Smell: moderate sweetness and a good malt character with a little bit of graininess and corniness around the edges. Not in a bad way, though — it’s a nice example of the style.
Taste: a little bit on the sweet side with a hint of that almost-corny graininess. Reading the can now, it says it is a wheat lager with light hints of cinnamon — I would never have guessed. I would have thought it was some slightly earthy, spicy hop variety or something, it is so light!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this might be one of the most successful uses of cinnamon I’ve had in a beer. I probably wouldn’t have picked it out as cinnamon without having been told it was there, it is being used with such a light hand. I still don’t even get any in the aroma. It’s kinda different, but it’s subtle, and I like that.

Clear golden brew with plenty of foam and nicely sudsy. Subtle aromas of roasted grain and a warm meadow. Melts in your mouth and leaves a nice malty taste with the hint of caramel. It's the nutty taste that is so different and so inviting. Don't know what I would call this, the Euro Lager seems so generic. But I don't know what the hops are. But overall, it's a delicious and mellow light lager. The hops are just a suggestion, Monsieur would like some melon perhaps? From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea Brewing. Dated 10/10/25.
