the actual name of this beer is mourning rituals, not morning ritual as listed here, an error for sure, a collaborative irish stout with the up and coming obelisk, ive liked what ive had from them, cool spot too. a malt interesting take, some peppery earthy center to this, rye malt i think, roasty and bitter and almost smoked to me too, dark cocoa and good espresso, some real intensity for the style, quite evolved, but not overengineered either, robust as these go for sure, but still drinkable, they pack a lot in for this modest abv, and another well done beer from wayfinder. black in the glass and with a bit of apparent viscosity, nice shine and refinement, puffy airy lighter brown head, enough carbonation. aroma and flavor here are high roast, but the bitterness there is balanced by more middle grain sweetness and nuance than is normal for a dry irish type, i get that pop of rye here but some light toffee as well, breadiness, slightly weighty really, and later the ferment isnt as forward as it is in the most traditional examples of the style, but its not neutral either, and i like the complexity and proportions of this overall, something a little different in a style that generally tries to brew to a standard and yields sometimes samey beers. some body and some palate length to this, tobacco underlayer, with dark chocolate and dark soil together, black fig, strong drip coffee as it warms, some linger. not exactly what i expected, but a cool take and of really good quality on the whole, which is true of pretty much all beer from these guys. i like the subtle malt complexity this has, nice.

Pour at the 2026 Festival Of Dark Arts. Black pour, thin ring of beiger head around the glass. Roasty aroma, burnt toast. Taste is dry and bitter, roasty, light chocolaty notes, coffee.
