Brewed with 100% New York grains and hops; fermented cool with our house lager yeast. It's dark appearance could be deceptive; this is a highly refreshing lager brewed with foraged Chaga mushrooms for added intrigue.

On tap at Fattey Beer Company in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small white head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like heavily roasted malt, some char, and a touch of chocolate.
I don’t really know much about this brewery, but I’m glad to know that they can make a good dark lager. This is really creamy, with a pleasantly charred and roasty bitterness to it, with just enough chocolatey sweetness on the back end to keep it balanced.
This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, and very drinkable.
I enjoy this one a lot – it hits all the notes I want for this style!

My first beer from this new-to-me local brewery came in a 12oz can.
Beautiful glass. Clear, graphite black color with hints of garnet when back lit. Tight, low head of white foam has good retention and leaves small spatters of lace cling.
The aroma is all schwartz bier - smokey, chalky black grain with underlying sweet wort notes. Clean, spot on style and welcoming. More notes of licorice, earthy loam and apple blossoms.
Great dark grain flavor. An exemplary representation of the style. Dry, dark malt character with out the stout body and weight. Terrific balance and blending of subtle sweetness and understated hops into a light bodied, full flavored Lager.
Chaga is one of planets more healthful fungi but the only way I know to detect it's flavor in beer is to drink this same beer w/out the chaga addition. Having said that, there is an earthy funk in all the right ways going on here.
Clean is the key as this is a Lager through and through with bold flavors, satisfying beer complexity and light bodied drinkability.
The finish dry and mellow, mildly sweet and palate cleansing.
A great compliment for red meats or roast pork but soft enough for sea food like salmon or lobster.

A: The beer is very dark brown in color and is black when viewed from afar. It poured with a quarter finger high dense beige colored head that died down a bit but consistently left a thin layer of off white bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of dark malts and mushrooms are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has a bit stronger flavors of dark malts along with strong notes of mushrooms.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is an interesting dark lager as the mushroom flavors are quite evident in the taste.
Serving type: can
