huge thanks to my brother for sending this can out for me, been drinking somewhat less due to recent circumstances and it was nice to dip back in with something of this level of complexity and interest, maybe incorrectly listed as a kettle sour, i think this has wild yeasts and is at least mixed fermentation i think, fermented in oak, special stuff, a little rugged, not unrefined but maybe a tad unvarnished, which i can dig in this style space. can art is absolute gold, very appealing, while the pour is a little more murky and dense than expected, not quite dull but not bright either, pretty deep pinkish orange color saturation here, the cherries obviously staining it. its fizzy in the glass but its head is short and quick to fade. the aroma is captivating, identifiable cherry, a little cranberry or even red raspberry tang, but its not fruity at the expense of the yeast, which i love, subtle bretty funk and citrusy twang, but not real acidic or anything, no more tart than the cherries likely were on their own, some oak and red wine character to this, subtle clover honey sweetness, wheat malt, tannins, and rustic appeal, fresh and mature at the same time, which is hard to do without it being disjointed. the flavor is similar, nice hefty malt at the core of this, matches and supports the puckery cherry, but the fruit also carries some appealing sweetness which extends this, vinous to me as it warms, cherry and raspberry together to me as well, light vanilla from the oak, cut grass and earthen freshness, elderflower and even jasmine notes make it feminine in a cool way, springy and brilliant for the season, and with better carbonation than it looks like it has too. very neat can of beer, just my second from these guys. my wife dug it to! i would love to get into some more of their stuff, this seems like my kind of operation. nice balance here, stoked to have received this!
