Hero pour seems near still, but bubbles struggle keep a solid ring around the surface. The body is dark brown with maybe a slight haze.
The nose has a hint of the near 7%, but has an interesting mix of American hops over a Belgian yeast, maybe? I say that because I’m oddly reminded of Houblon Chouffe with each sniff (not completely, just one aspect of the nose). There’s a dark nutty / fruity aspect as well. Interesting but not typical fir an AmBrown.
Taste adds another country… Germany. It reminds me of a (doppel)bock with the sweet toasted bread notes. The hops add an earthiness that brings out a dry nuttiness of the malt. It’s actually nicely balanced but a little thick and lacking dryness.
So, it’s an interesting mix of styles to me, which makes it interesting, if not a great style representation. I wish it were more focused, personally.
