Holding onto traditional roots, McGuire's Irish Pub resists the urge to go West Coast, New England or Midwestern with their hoppy intentions. Staying true to the British style of IPA suits this Irish pub just fine, no matter how the market sways.
Thier IPA pours a hazy but light blend of gold, copper and bronze while building a creamy white froth. Its floral scent is moderate with suggestions of white grapefruit, orange and apricot peaking through a biscuit sweet scent. The first sip reveals the mild mannered sweetness of caramel, nuttiness and honey with that quintessential biscuit maltiness.
As the hops unfold on the middle palate, its orange peel, grapefruit and mild stone fruit presence offers a bright and racy taste with elements of grassiness, parsley and fragrant woods hoisting up a peppery, broad and bitter finish.
Spicy and resinous, the hops give this medium bodied beer a need dryness to facilitate drinkability and refreshment. A medium long linger of sprucy and grassy hops apply a part spicy, part resinous bitterness that lasts into a long and hoppy aftertaste.

McGuires, IPA, 5.5abv. I stopped in the other day as a BA duty to support my local brewery whenever I have the chance.
A Copper amber in color, but I was inside at the bar where white light is non-existent. Good head to start, but faded quickly. Score would have been highr if the head stuck around a little longer. 4
S Citrusy floral hop aroma. A little less hop aroma than what I expect of an IPA. 3.5
T There's a sweet malty flavor that is a little cloying with licorice tones. Sweeter than I expected based on the aroma. 3.5
M Medium body, nice thick feeling on the tongue though. Carbonation was good. 4
D More of a beginners IPA, the hophead will probably be left wanting more. A good drinkable beer, worth having another. 4
