Growlette share with a buddy. Treated as a Belgian dark ale, I poured mine into a tulip. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. Mild lace. The aroma had a nice blend of roasted coffee bean, mild milk and dark chocolate, Belgian sugars, candied dark fruits and then a touch of breadiness. Light Belgian spices slide in underneath. The flavor leans towards the sweet side initially with the breadiness and dark fruits meeting the chocolate portions fairly nice. Seemingly smooth in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat almost towards a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Nicely done with the roast of the coffee beans to pull down some possible cloying qualities that could have occurred. Overall, it’s a mostly nicely done Belgian stout that’s just a tad under in the "spice" department. Other than that, this one could turn some heads.
