Cask @ Il Punto, Bologna - Pours jet black with medium tanned head. Medium carbonation. Aroma - roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee. Taste - Sweet forefront, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, long dry bitter finish. Lovely stout.

Picked up a bottle at Rome's Les Vignerones. So this is an Irish-style stout with algae. I couldn't tell you what the algae does, but this is a very smooth and drinkable beer. It's not actually as dry as the style's classics, it's more like an oyster stout that isn't briney, or an English oatmeal stout. Regardless, I'd have another. Big, rolling cocoa and fresh ground coffee flavors with a touch of caramel and a balanced finish.
