Imperial Rice ale aged in Italian muscatel barrels with white vermouth botanicals: agave, dried apricot, Meyer lemon, sweet orange, and chamomile.
The “White Tiger” Luchador begins as a strong barleywine-style base beer brewed with a hefty punch of Sugar Creek Malt Company malted Carolina Gold rice. Tigre was then aged for 10 months in Italian muscatel barrels and finished with a mix of agave nectar, dried fruit, citrus peel, flowers, roots, and spices that resemble a botanical mix found in white vermouth, plus a little south-of-the-border influence. Tigre Blanco is a bright and light-bodied Luchador — sleek, swift and a reliable contender to enjoy any time of the year.

Had on tap. Cellared 2.5 years. Clear reddish brown with a khaki cap and sporadic blobs of lacing. Basically a very fruit version of what is promised, especially in the nose where the fruits and botanicals, especially agave and apricot, meet the lighter barrel. Taste the booze is not light, big vermouth washes over the botanicals with a rice backing, wood is very faint. Feel is cool and full yet light and stupid smooth with a smell in the middle for the booze to rise and fall. A truly unique beer that showcases some fun notes

500 ml bottle into a snifter. Late 2020 release, had 12/24/20.
Pours an orange copper color, clear, with a half inch foamy head and light foamy lacing. Aromas of grapes, a strawberry- like aroma, agave, some malt/rice. The botanicals give it an herbal, earthy and a little floral aroma. Flavors of grapes, malt/rice, agave, a strawberry- like flavor. The botanicals are fairly potent, especially the licorice root, and give it an herbal, floral and a little earthy flavor. They also provide some bitterness. Smooth, a very good lighter to medium body, appropriately carbonated.
Unique, flavorful, hard (for me, at least) to break down in a review. The grapes, agave and botanicals all show well, and the lighter barleywine base is solid. Very enjoyable. Hope they make this one again.
