Double Barrel Blonde Barleywine
BARREL: Rye whiskey barrels - 12 months
French apricot brandy barrels - 10 months
The second half of our dazzling double barrel tag team has entered the ring. El Petito is a true stunner! Following 12 months in rye whiskey barrels, El Petito went overseas to condition in French apricot brandy barrels for 10 months. Expect his energetic performance to showcase rich fleshy fruit flavors harmoniously suspended by a toffee and caramel backbone.

12 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 10/2/23, had 2/2/24.
Pours a mostly clear orange copper color, with a short, quickly dissipating head and a little soapy lacing. Aromas of caramel, plum, malt, fig, raisins, some oak, light rye whiskey, light apricot brandy. Flavors of rye whiskey, caramel, raisins, fig, oak, malt, some apricot brandy, light plum. Has a bit of a spicy taste and a light sweet note. Smooth, a very good medium body, appropriately carbonated.
Really enjoyable. The Rye and apricot brandy barrels are a unique (so far) and delicious combination that explodes in the flavor. The solid base barleywine is a standout of its own, with strong caramel and dried fruit notes. Another interesting and top notch effort from CB.

I had this on draft 11/3/23 @ the Beer Temple.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
Small tan head; decent lacing remained.
Dark raisin, leather & currant notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium thick mouthfeel.
Dark raisin & leather flavors up front; currant notes on the finish. Mild booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Unique & frankly delicious. I hope to have this again!
