On-tap at the source during happy hour. On to the beer:
Slightly faded orange color with some head retention and a little lacing. The hops are very aromic. There's also a little toasted mlat and crackery dry malt. (I accidentally put my nose in my beer and smelled caramel and cracker malt on my drive home :-D) A well hopped beer to taste, lots of pure crisp hops with some "green" flavor. Some dry crackery malt in its base adds to the flavor. Light in the mouth, and "sudsdy"...plenty of sud bubbles. Drinkable? You bet.
After learning that Pliny the Younger was gone in 25 minutes after being tapped, a needed a good beer to get my mind off that. Unrated XPA is no PtY, but it is a good beer to relax with and take your mind off any of life's distractions. It's also further proof that TBC's new brew crew is serious about making quality beer.
