poured a dark brown with slight brown highlights that had a thin frothy head and left a little lacing sticking to the glass. The aroma was had a little molasses, some bready malts, and very faint rye notes that night not be rye at all. Upfront on the palate a little maple character shows it face with slight molasses, bready malts, and a touch of toffee as well. The brew was medium in body with a fair amount of carbonation which had a malty, sweet, slight boozy, and creamy finish. It drank pretty good and was hsppy to finally drink some brews from the Tustin brweery. Actually seems like they brew some decent beers.

On-tap at Tustin
A: The pour is a dark amber color with some heavy brown notes and a finger's worth of foam that dissipates fairly quickly.
S: The nose on this beer is disappointing to say the least. The reason I say that is, there really isn't very much of an aroma. Some faint notes of dark fruit and malt and perhaps just a hint of rye.
T: Luckily there is actually a flavor. Not as sweet as your usual doppelbock. Some definite spicy rye notes along with some dark fruits (namely prunes). A mild cola and chocolate character as well. Unfortunately, a fair amount of alcohol presence.
M: The body is medium and the carbonation is low to medium, but fairly smooth.
D: A disappointment. Having been on a big German beer craze, I was excited to see a beer like this on the taplist, but this was really not very good.
