On cask at Tustin
A: The beer pours golden orange in color with a soapy white head.
S: Smells decently citrusy with some grapefruit and orange peel. There is a bit of pine, but this has a lot of bread along with some toffee. A substantial amount of alcohol is present on the nose as well.
T: Grapefruit starts this one off with some orange peel and lemon zest. The beer is quite bready with some moderate toffee and caramel notes. The pine is mild to moderate which provides the bitterness.
M: The body is medium with a light to medium level of carbonation.
D: I don't know why they can't pull this beer off. Their regular IPA is pretty damn good, but the double is just unenjoyable.

Sampled 2/4/2011 at the brewpub.
Pours dark orange, bordering on brown, sticky white head lasts decently well but doesnt leave any lacing.
Aroma is fish food and old hops mostly but with hints of pine and orange as well.
Flavor is dominated by the old hops again but shows some signs of armpit, orange, and caramel. Kind of sweet and bitter but I guess that's typical of this crappy serving style.
Body is medium and drinkability is low. Been there ticked that, will not be going back for another.
