Please note that this is a completely different beer than the Double Black IPA that Trinity Brewhouse released with the same name in 2017.
On-tap 11/14/2014 at the brewpub in Providence, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a short dense beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains milk chocolate, roasted malts, floral hops, coffee and some citrus.
T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malt character that is quickly followed by flavors of chocolate, coffee and citrus. Then a strong but not over-powering hops presence comes in and creates a very good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a nice beer to drink for a long time if you’re in the mood for the style.
