On-tap 1/5/2015 at the brewpub in Providence, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark reddish brown color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains strong ginger, caramelized malts, some maple, some fruit and some hops.
T: The taste starts out with a strong ginger flavor, as you would expect, along with some other spices. Then some sweet flavors of caramel, maple and fruit come in. The malt character is very hearty and the hops presence is mild creating a little balance. The after-taste is slightly spicy and slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, slightly filling, strong kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.
