On-tap 12/26/09 at the brewpub Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep gold color, thin white head that fades quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is of light malts, citrus, alcohol and some hops.
T: The taste starts with a citrus and caramel sweetness that is quickly followed by an alcohol bite and a decent hops bitterness. The alcohol seems a bit too distinguished for a beer with this low of an ABV%. The malt character is on the thin side. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.
D: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, good kick, decent representation of style, it took me a little while to get used to it but this is a decent beer to drink for a while.

50 ibu, filtered, czech and saaz hops. 6.5%
nice yellow orange citrus cloudy hue. carb life happening and no head, but some serious lacing. appetizing sweet bready aroma, rather belgian. bananas and clove in the first sip, like a strong hefeweizen. subtle hop dalliance here. alcohol comes across like licorice. aftertaste is sugar cookie indulgence with fruity hop essence shining through. very drinkable and bursting with sparkling life. a wonderful beer overall.

Wierd. It was sour and almost crying out for more of an alcohol burn to it. This beer needed more of an alcohol feel to give the hops some balance. Pours very pale and almost flat by appearance. Not much for a head on top except for some foamy rings. Hops were biting and tangy. The nose was not-quite ripe lemons and limes with a bit of grass. Unripe fruit almost. They wanted to make this beer hoppy, but it is like an experiment gone wrong. Just not enough to give the beer any balance. The beer had a nice sour patch kid, crispy mouthfeel going on, but I found this beer kind of tough on the palate and could not get into it.

A medium orange-gold, topped with a three finger stark white head. Sparkling clear, leaves webs of lace behind.
The aroma is very hoppy, there is a lightly toasted malt base, but it's almost all spicy and floral hop (they use Saaz and Tettnang).
A bit of lemon rind.
The taste again is all hops, earthy, spicy and floral. Some more lemon in there as well, again the malt is just providing a base for the hops to ride on.
Medium body, dry, well bittered and a beer to have a couple of.
One of the best I've had in a brewpub.

The beer is a pale straw gold, slightly more orange than your typical pilsner color. Incredibly clear, I can see my fingerprints on the other side of the glass. A thin swirl of white mist is all that becomes of the head, settling rapidly into a tight collar. Nice belgian lace forms rings down the tumbler.
The aroma is potently and immediately hoppy. Strong floral hopping, with a distinct peppery saaz tang. I'm guessing tettnang? Plenty of bready pils malt to back it up, with a slight corn sweetness. A whiff or lemon and grass, with a touch of orange.
The flavor starts with a massive bready pils malt. Very pleasant on the tongue, with slight lemon and grassy esters. Nice and clean, considering the amount of malt in this stuff. A touch of orange, or maybe peach, towards the finish, meeting a huge peppery saaz bite. Very spicy, nearly citric, with a milder floral tettnang backing. The malt retains a foothold throughout, although the hops are definitely the star of this production. The finish dries out impressively, snapping off clean with very little aftertaste. Spritzy, snappy carbonation does a fine job of carrying the full, creamy body. Excellent stuff.
One of the most impressive local beers I've had in a while. The sign boasted 50 IBUs on this puppy, but I'd say it felt more around 60-65. I'm no expert, though. In the two days I was working in Providence, I stopped at Trinity for a couple pints of this stuff each day. I only wish they had a growler I could have brought home.
