Deep black pour with a slight off-white head. Not much lace.
Smell is of roasted malt, citrus and something I can't quite put my finger on.
Taste is of big roasty malts, some piney hops, and something like licorice, maybe. Edit: it's a a soy sauce taste.
Feel is medium with a nice bitter bite from both the roasty malt and the hops. Quick, dry finish.
Overall, not bad.

Absolutely beautiful black beer with a dark tan head; good retention.
Both flavor and aroma are very solid representations of the Black IPA style: hoppy, citrusy, with a roasty malt backbone. However, there's an odd, out of place aroma/flavor I can't quite pin down (mint? licorice?). That detracts from what would otherwise be an outstanding brew.
