Amber in color, small white head, transparent.

Smells of malt, spices, hints of hops

Malty, and harsh bitterness, way too bitter for a Oktoberfest.

It was a little too watery and didn't have much mouth feel.

The bad mouth feel and unexpected bitterness lowers the drinkability for me.

I will not try it again on tap, poor representation of the style.

Picked up a growler today. $10 refill for me.
I saw this in this fridge as Marzen. What! Octoberfest in May!

appearance - Hazy orange-gold color. The white head settled down to a ring on this one.

smell - Moslty malt, spices, and caramel.

taste - Malt up front and a lot of hops at the end. Has more of bitterness then i expected.

mouthfeel - Medium body.

drinkability - Easy drinking beer, more bitterness here then I have had other beers in this category.

I am sure this is an Octoberfest beer, but it makes me think that when BA has it listed as Octoberfest and mine was listed as Marzen, make me think that it is a new recipe. My review kind of doesn't look like the others. This has no sweetness to it, so maybe this is a new recipe.

On-tap at the brewhouse...
Was rather surprised by this Autumn seasonal...
A true-to-the-style Oktoberfest brew...
Pours a deep, amber hue with a minimal head and minor lacing...
Smell: Robust thick malt aroma with hints of caramel...
Taste: Malts evident on the tongue along with bread, butter, and caramel... Some biscuits in there too...
Good mouthfeel along with an equally good level of drinkability...
Not bad...

On-tap 10/28/07 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a dark orange-brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is pretty faint but contains smoked malts, caramel and spices with a touch of hops.

T: The taste is very malty even for the style. It’s also quite smoky with flavors of caramel, spice and some chocolate. The hops presence is very mild, but there’s enough to provide a decent balance. The after-taste is bready and a little sweet, even though there isn’t much sweetness up front.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly sticky finish.

D: A little tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, not the best representation of style seems more like a Bock to me. This is not a beer that I could drink too many of.

nice amber with no head, lots of carbonation and loads of lacing. my nose is slightly clogged so i can't be 100% on the smell. it tastes quite good. good malts and hop mix together quite nicely. bit of a tangy yeast taste as well. great finish. this is a medium to light bodied brew. definately would get it again.

A very smooth beer. One of my favorites from Trinity. It was a srak amber in color with little head and no lace. The smell reminded me of barley, but it did not roll over into the flavor. The first sip is toasted malt and full of a caramel flavoring which just continues with every proceeding sip. I just wish the hops were slightly more bolder, the way they are worked into the beer produces a sweet flavor. There is also a slight hint of alcohol, but nothing too off-the-charts.

I used to live close to Trinity before I became an Advocate. I passed through Providence today on the way back from a concert, and had a chance to stop in for a few. The Oktoberfest was always a favorite, and I was happy to try it and record my thoughts. The color was a deep amber/garnet. It had a light head, and no lace to speak of. The nose had some malt, and a light note of candy. You taste the malt immediately, with just a hint of the hop bite. More hops in the middle and just a hint of alcohol on the back. It has a medium/heavy mouth feel, and a great drinkability. It’s still one of my favorite Trinity beers.

Presentation: On tap.

Appearance: Bright and clear brownish garnet colour with a creamy tiny bubbled tight off white lace.

Smell: Roasted and toasted, though more toasted than roasted. Bit of dextrin sweetness and mineral almost tap water aroma.

Taste: Rigid medium body, malty and chewy. Crisp with a light yet sufficient carbonation. Roasted flavours pair with the dextrin sweetness and the toasted malt goes with the vague caramel sweetness for a tag-team duel that brings some astringent flavours. Hops keep this beer on an even keel with a decent balancing bitterness. A mineral flavour invades the palate with similar qualities to city tap water and seems to add to the astringency. The finish is made up of a steely caramel malt flavour that is quite enhanced by the mineral flavours then a dash of astringency puts it an other harshness notch higher.

Notes: The water must be the culprit with the astringent flavours, sad because this could have been a decent if not good beer.
