On-cask 1/28/2017 at the brewpub in Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee and some dark fruit.
T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of bourbon, coffee, chocolate and dark fruit. There is also some cinnamon which I did not get in the previous version. Then a hearty roasted malt character comes in. The hops presence is very mild but complementary and brings some balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.
M: A little smooth but not very crisp and a bit watery, medium-to-heavy body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, good kick, decent representation of style, this is a decent stout to drink for a while.
