A couple of things before my notes on this beer. I could not pick up any of that odd water flavor that has been much discussed about Trinity beers. Consequently, this beer was pretty good. Secondly, the waitress told me it was an Octoberfest even when I asked her if she could check. But that does not seem like the correct style to me.

It poured a dark brown color. Kind of the color I imagine water would take if some swirled a piece of charred wood in a glass of water.

Nose is slightly burnt toast and the smokiness that goes with burnt bread.

Flavor is an odd take for a marzen but pretty nice. Allegedly brewed with eye of newt and bats wings (or something like that according to the description). Mostly the malts were toasted and provided a nice smokiness (made me think of eating meat that fell in the charcoal by accident) that I found nicely balanced with some light hop bitterness towards the back end of this beer.

A slightly dry finish. Bit thin and watery but there was no off-flavors. Forced myself to take this one slow, especially when I found that the wierd flavors were gone. Solid beer.
