On-tap 7/27/06 at Trinity Brewhouse in Providence, RI, poured into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep brown, with a tan head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The smell is nutty with roasted malt and a hint of chocolate.

T: The taste is rich and contains roasted malt, caramel, nuts, chocolate and a little bit of hops. It leaves a sweet syrupy after-taste.

M: Smooth and rich, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation and a sticky finish.

D: It's tasty and is the type beer that you can keep on drinking, but it is a bit filling though.

Brown. Nice small tan head which is tight, and leaves good lacing. Aromas are malty and a bit roasty and dirty as well. The hops are really under-done in this brown though. This is more like a British brown/mild combo brew than anything else. Mouthfeel is watery, drinkability not the best. Uneventful.

Now it is just called the less descriptive Brown Ale, but I think they may have modified the recipe a bit too. The hops were a bit milder and the malts slightly richer than what I remember and past BA folks have commented upon. It poured a soft brown with deep amber tones where the light could filter through. There was a thin head that went away, but a light lace still formed on the glass. The hops are clean and smooth on the palate while the malts are slightly more than mild. But the malt flavoring lasted. The finish is stubborn that stuck to my cheeks.

Trinity has this on draught. Not much head. decent rich brown color.
I wasn't real impressed with this one. The hoppiness was a bit too prominent, in my opnion. There was some roasted malt flavor, but not enough. There was no noticeable nut flavor at all.
Not the best Trinity has to offer by far, but it was drinkable.

Named for NE Patriot Troy Brown, this isn't a bad session brew. It is quite dark brown, with very little head, and a verry mild roasty nose. Has good body and smoothness.... roasty malt flavors start out....with a bit of hops and ever-so-slight citrus notes to finish.
