A light, smooth, traditional German Altbier also known as an old beer, made in the old world style. Pale golden color and a light body makes this beer perfectly suited to newcomers to craftbrewed beers. Filtered.

Beautiful crystal clear golden color, malty, with great hop bill. Crisp, light front followed by a smooth toasty malt. Easy drinking. One of
The finest Kolsch I’ve had, even in Germany.

Appearance
Pours to a permanent white head that laces erratically. Clear yellow.

Aroma
Grainy bread and biscuits, not sweet or floral. No white wine or grape juice note. No hops.

Flavor
Clean, crisp malts, low but detectable nondescript hop flavor and bitterness. Clean, abrupt finish. As it warms, I can taste the funk of the local water a bit in there (yuck). Time to change the filters, guys!

Mouthfeel
Very light and thin, somewhat overcarbonated and harsh/astringent.

Overall
This purported award winning Kölsch style ale misses several style marks and while easy drinking and mostly inoffensive, is blah and not worth another purchace. It could be called a blonde ale or all malt lager and be afforded a few more points. This ain't no friggin Kölsch!

Pale yellow with a green tint; very clear. Not particularly enticing, but not off-putting, either.

Dry biscuit aroma, slightly spicy (think rye or pepper). Not at all inviting, and missing some key elements of a Kölsch.

Flavor sadly follows. Tastes more like an AAL than a Kölsch.

Feel is drinkable, fairly light, but with an odd, almost sickly cloying feel to it.

This brew is mediocre overall. It's a poor attempt at a Kölsch, and I wouldn't want to drink one if offered. It comes across as though the brewer tasted a year-old, skunked, stale Kölsch from the bottle and decided that was what the style was like, and brewed to that incredibly flawed impression.
