Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass. The glass fills up with a cosmic black hole, zero head, and almost no carbonation to speak of.
Smell is a very nice cold brewed coffee with sugar, quite pleasant and inviting. Some notes of vanilla bean and cream noticeable in the background.
Taste? Flavors are subdued if not totally muted. I have a minor cold but I'm not picking up on much of anything until it warms on the back of my throat. Either something is amiss here or this is the easiest drinking 8% beer ever created. As it warms there's a nice medium roast coffee flavor balanced with some semi sweet chocolate and really drinkable.
This isn't a complex beer, but I'm a fan. It advertises as a coffee stout and it's true to that.

(I wish Beer Advocate didn't mess with their rating system, but here it goes.)
*Poured from the tap into a clear plastic solo cup at The Met in Pawtucket, RI 8/30/14.*
A- Black! No head formed in my cup. Just looks like cola in the cup. My cup was not clear to see the body of the beer, but I bet it had light reddish hue around the bottom.
S- Cold Starbucks coffee. Light sweetness in the nose, but just had an overall dark, black Italian roast coffee scent about it.
T- Matches the nose perfectly. It is cold Starbucks exactly! Light sweetness. One could identify the maltiness, but that was not the star attraction of the brew. Had a nice hop bitterness to round out the malty, roasted coffee flavors. Finishes dry.
M- This was a medium to full bodied beer, towards the full side. It had a crisp bite from the carbonation surprisingly. It really did drink like an extremely dark roasted ice coffee. It also had a bit of an oily or molasses type feel. Not as heavy has most imperial stouts. You could tell the beer had a bigger abv to it, but I wouldn't have guessed 8%. You never felt a warming sensation down the throat at all with this one. In no way shape or form was this beer refreshing or thrust quenching.
*Overall this was a good stout. This beer is for people that like their coffee dark and strong, and their profile on the smoky side. I'd say try this beer if you're in Providence/Rhode Island or anywhere in New England that may have this. It's real good for someone that may be taking the plunge into imperial stouts for the first time. I definitely give this beer around a B/B+.

Enjoyed this at trinity brewhouse
Black with dark brown edge, 1/2 inch tan that quickly disappears leaving minimal lace
Prominent coffee aroma with some chocolate and malt
Taste: dark roast coffee initially followed by some malt sweetness. Well balanced with bitter hops ( summitt I think). Chocolate and toffee aftertaste with moderate alcohol.
Moderate heavy oily mouthful.
Overall I like this a lot. My impression is an imperial stout
with coffee. Not coffee as in some dark malts have a hint of coffee but coffee as in they are adding dark roasted coffee or beans. This would be great after a meal, or with dessert... or in place of dessert.
