Beer served in a wine glass. Beer is amber with a mild haze and a wispy head of small bubbles, some lacing and low carbonation. Looks OK.

Aroma is very malt, very malty. Some pine hops come through but the malt is winning. Now I"m bummed out.

I was really looking forward to this beer but Rhode Island let me down with this one. Medium body, lead off maltiness, sweetness, heavy, thick, minimal hops, some pine, low bitterness. Nevermind.

On tap at SAVOR 2011. Served in a goblet.

Pours a nice golden color with a small white head and some sparse lacing on the way down. Spotty lacing as it goes down. The nose brings some light citrus and floral characteristics, with orange dominating. A bit of yeast in there as well. Light booze. The flavor is along the same lines, with everything melding fairly well, but I'm not sure how I feel about the crossover. Medium body with moderate bitterness. Pretty decent.

This is a new one from Trinity. RIPTA- Rhode Island Pale Tripel Ale. A salute to the other RIPTA, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority, which has hauled my drunk butt back from Trinity more than a couple times. 64oz growler into chouffe tulip.

A- A bit darker than expected, coppery golden ale with a bit of a head that fizzes out. Trinity growlers aren't known for their abundant carbonation. 2nd pour is better though, 2-finger slightly off-white head that slowly settles.

S- Hoppy. A bit of yeast. Kind of earthy.

T- The brewers at Trinity are in love with some certain hop blend.. I get the bitter, piny, earthy hops that is also found in their IPA and IIPA. Good stuff. There's also a pretty strong tripel underneath the hops. Great Belgian yeast and a fruity sweetness... some orangey/citrus notes.

M- Carbonation is actually better than I thought. Beer has a good mouthfeel, nice bitter pine flavors and a bit of a fruity finish.

D- Fairly high. Growler was no problem. I like this beer, although I am having a tough time pinning it down. Very unique. It's either the hoppiest tripel I've ever had or the fruitiest Belgian IPA I've ever had. Good stuff from Trinity. Hope to see this one again.
