Pours a half finger of tan head over a hazy red-brown liquid. Smells piney, rich barrel, oxidized malt, waxy wood, vanilla, sour apple, pineapple.
Tastes mild caramel washed over by strong barrel and stingy alcohol. Pine and wax. Nice esters of pear and apricot. Some buttery character that is suggestive of pediococcus. I wonder what kind of wood they used to age this beer. Thin mouthfeel has a nice silky creaminess to it. Modest carbonation. Decent but not knocking my socks off. Taste had alot more to offer.
