A big new lineup of "Imperials" at Trinity this week, had to try them all. Next up was the new Imperial Porter.
A: On top of this beer sits a dark khaki head, and laying underneath is a black meets mahogany brown. Small streaks of lacing.
S: An odd mixture of candy and roasted malt. A caramel coffee creamer comes to mind.
T: Dark chocolate, barley, and a toffee candy sweetness. Not too much of a hit from the hops. Has a really enjoyable roasted malt quality that doesn't dominate, and lets the rest of the flavors compete with one another. There is a faint vanilla taste lurking in there, having an almost Charleston Chew quality. A hint of smoke.
M: Rather thin body, and less carbonation than desired, but it is smooth, overall, and works in favor of the beer.
O/D: This might have been the best beer of the night. A very enjoyable porter. It was dubbed as Baltic in style, but a good porter regardless of naming. It's a winner.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
