On-tap 11/20/2012 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a large light brown head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains fruity citrus, roasted malts, floral hops, chocolate and coffee.
T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malts character. Then some sweet flavors of citrus, chocolate and coffee come in. The hops presence is strong but not over-powering and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is dry but clean for the style.
O: Very tasty, goes down quite easily, slightly filling, good kick, very good representation of style, this is a very good hoppy dark beer to drink for a long time.

Second beer of the night yesterday evening at Trinity. Served on tap in a normal pint glass. Dark brown color. Thin white head, with good lacing. Smell had a nice piney, earthy, grassy aroma. Big pleasant surprise here was the hops in the flavor. They really shine through in a great way. Nice balance between the dark malt and the floral hops. Mouthfeel was also nice, with a mellow smoothness that made this beer quite drinkable. I really like what Trinity made here - a dark ale with a nice bite of hops that would satisfy all types of beer drinkers. I would order this again.

Caught a pint of this before I went to see The Doors. Good times.
A- Deep brown in the pour, a nice outer tan ring of bubbles. Trinity seems to keep their beers at a lower pressure, so there's not a big head on this one.
S- The nose is pretty good- chocolate and coffee, some citrusy hop notes as well.
T- Strong chocolate and coffee notes- like chocolate covered espresso beans. Some orange peel comes through with the hop bitterness on the back end. A bit too much coffee/chocolate, could use some more hops.
M- Flavors are a bit out of balance but the beer sits pretty well on the tongue.
O- Not bad, could use some tweaks. I think there's too much dark roast and not enough hops. I went back to the IPA after this one.
