On nitro-tap 6/14/2013 at the brewpub Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep black color, with a large dense beige head that fades very slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains a lot of bourbon along with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with a strong bourbon flavor and sweet flavors of chocolate and coffee. Then a hearty roasted malt character comes in. The hops presence is very mild but complementary and brings some balance. There’s some alcohol sting that creep in. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and a little crisp, medium-to-heavy body, light-to-medium carbonation, finish is slightly sweet.
O: Tasty, goes down dangerously easy, slightly filling, strong kick, good representation of style, this is a good, flavorful, big stout to drink for a long time.
