My fourth offering from Fifth Hammer, enjoyed from the tap room.
Flavor Gravy pours a dark brown, mahogany, and nearly black color with a big tan foam head. Head soon dissipates and leaves a thin ring.
The nose has typical porter/stout qualities in that it is nutty, has a coffee aroma and lightly roasted malt.
I found this very light bodied and easy to drink for a stout, especially given the low ABV. Little to no sweetness and non detectable alcohol content. Instead, this stout highlights the bitterness from the roasted malt, espresso bean flavor and high hops content. Yet, it has a smoothness and creaminess that takes off the edge.
Very sessionable and a refreshing change of pace to see a stout that is not a cloyingly sweet booze bomb.
