Had it on tap at Fifth Hammer. Pours a dark brown color with a hint of ruby. A foamy and velvety thumbnail length head that leaves lacing.
In the nose there is first a hint of fruity hops. Then the malt aromas consisting of toasted brown bread, Vienna malt, a hint of chocolate, and honey.
The taste has dark and bready malts with a clean but increasing earthy hops finish. The hops flavors yield grapefruit, pine and a moderately dry bitterness. The malt flavors open up further in and produce a touch of dark chocolate, cacao, and the faintest hint of honey sweetness.
Smooth and silky in the mouth with a medium to light body. Well balanced and subtle. Lovely and drinkable.
