Another good brew from Fifth Hammer. Enjoyed from the taproom, this iteration of the Pale Ale Tasty Feelings adds Taiheke hops, a brand hitherto unknown to me.
Pours a cloudy golden color with a thumbnail length foam head and lacing on rim.
What an interesting nose Taiheke hops imparts. Seemingly a kaleidoscope of different aromas. Pineapple, tangerine, and grapefruit make up the fruity hops aroma. Grassy, earthy and dank hops provide an herbal touch. There is a slight cheesy smell, however, it doesn’t feel rancid or like a flaw, instead, it is pleasant. On the malt side, there is sweetness, biscuit and sourdough. Interestingly enough there is a vinous and slightly tart fruity quality.
Wonderfully crisp and dry. Medium bodied to light and quite quaffable. Flavors of grapefruit pith and grass. A bit more straightforward and simpler compared to the aroma, yet very refreshing.
