On tap at Fifth Hammer Brewery, Queens, NY
Pours a dark brown, nearly black color with a creamy cappuccino foam head. It displays good retention.
Aromas of chocolate, moderately roasty, and a nutty malt base that reminds me of walnuts.
Even more so than the smell, the taste highlights charred malts, even with a bit of smoke. Predominantly bitter with notes of raw cacao and espresso beans. Very mild sweetness from the base malt that is nutty and chocolaty. There is a bright hops spice that provides a touch of lightly tart grapefruit that plays against the tobacco like smokiness and bitter roast.
Medium bodied, smooth, and with a dry finish.
A very easy to drink low ABV stout that has nice roasty and smoky flavors. One of Fifth Hammer’s best!
