On tap at Fifth Hammer, NYC.
Pours a dark mahogany color with a creamy and ruby colored head that displays decent retention.
Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa powder and, of course, peanut butter. Other aromatic notes include nutty malts, a light roast, grassy hops and a touch of mint.
Taste features notes of bittersweet dark chocolate, a light tartness from the black malt, nutty malts, and a gentle coating of peanut butter, more as a complimentary accent rather than as a dominant flavor. Touches of woodsy, earthy and grassy hops add a balancing spice as well as a mild bitterness. Midway into the drink, a refreshing menthol and mint like flavor evokes a peppermint patty candy bar.
Medium bodied, gently carbonated and very smooth. The finish is dry with a hint of tartness and a peanut butter linger.
A fun and well crafted porter. The peanut butter adds a nice touch.
