Inspired by the beers that sustained monks during Lent, this hearty lager has a clean malt profile with a touch of sweetness and is easy drinking yet immensely satisfying. A crisp lager that will take us through the end of winter and into warmer Spring days.

On-tap @ Fifth Hammer Brewing in Long Island City, NY.

Served in a teku glass. Medium amber with brilliant clarity. Small white head that leaves behind a good amount of lacing. Light toffee and malt sweetness in the aroma. Flavor is on point for the style with a balance towards the malts. Light floral hops round things out. Very clean in the finish. Easy to drink despite the 7% ABV. Dangerous stuff!

A: The beer is hazy amber orange in color and appears to be light caramel brown in color when viewed from a distance. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that left a small patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, a thin film of bubbles in between, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of bready malts, fruity yeast and spicy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of multi-grain bread with notes of spicy hops. While only a slight amount of bitterness is perceptible, there are enough underlying hops to mask any sweetness from the malts.
M: It feels between medium and medium- to full-bodied and a bit smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This has a nice full body and is easy to drink as it manages to hide any traces of alcohol from the taste.

2d review, 5th Hammer NYC.
a) Color, head, lace, stands up like dark bread.
s) Malt, caramel, bit of wood.
t) Lots of wood, fresh sawn and varnished with dark fresh baked bread on top, herbs embedded in the crust.
f) Creamy, dreamy.
o) Super Maibock true to style, better and more berry.

A: Fire orange. Chilled haziness.

A: Woody-grain sweetness.

M: Surprisingly juicy and a clean, crisp finish.

T: Touch of underripe strawberry. Malt is toasty to start and then picks up with Jewish rye and a caramel sweetness.

On tap at Fifth Hammer, NYC.
Pours a clear amber color with a creamy head.
The aroma evokes bready, toasty malts and sweet cereal grain. There is a touch of fruity hops and a faint hint of alcohol.
The taste highlights a complex malt profile and is sweet and sticky. Flavors of caramel, fruity malt and hops, honey, grape, and apple. The malts are toasty and with a dry finish. There is some alcohol spice that demonstrates Bock strength. Well hopped with some earthy bitterness and citrusy lemony flavors.
Medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Well balanced, sticky, and spicy with some alcohol warmth.
A really fine example of the style.
