On tap at Fifth Hammer, NYC.
Pours a clear amber brown color with a moderate foam head.
Aromas hint at rich malt and boozy sweetness. Notes of sweet cereal grain, biscuity malt, caramel and honey. There are hints of earthy hops aromas and dark fruit.
Full flavored and sweet malt backbone yields flavors of bready, biscuity, honey and caramel malts. Flavors of raisins, figs and melon. Alcohol spice yields bourbon and rum flavors. Well hopped with a significant bitterness that offsets the sweetness; notes of earthy hops flavors, grass, mint and lots of pine resin.
Full bodied, definitely a sipper, boozy, and a nice balance of sweet and bitter. The finish is sticky, warming and resiny.
A well done American Barleywine that has a nice balance and bold complex flavors.
