This was the first beer that I've had from Fifth Hammer as I bought it at Bread and Honey in Manhattan. These guys were right near my garage across the East River and it's nice to see more breweries popping up in Long Island City. Like the previous reviewer, I was a bit disappointed in this as it wasn't as highly rated as the other Sonic Architectures on here as there was too much bun from the Sabro here!

The pour to this was similar to something from Greenpoint - a milky goldenrod without a lot of carbonation in it. There wasn't much of a head to this and surprisingly, there wasn't *any* lacing to be seen on the side of my pint glass once that settled down. Not a bad aroma to this as there was lots of pineapple, scallions, spice, and turbid tropical fruit but the taste had just too much burn in it for me to rate any higher. Very hard to find the Citra in this was this liquid was turbid and dank without having any offsetting brightness of bold flavor that could have offset it. Slick enough on the palate, some bubbles would have helped too as the malt was very basic and recessed.

Enough alcohol was in this and this only felt strong because of how potent the taste and aftertaste were. The tropical fruit lingered on the palate, and in my burps, but the burn did the same as I needed a chaser of water to get this fully down. Canned on 3/9 with "IPA 2DAY & 2MORROW" written underneath that, this was a bit disappointing given how strong the IPA's coming out of New York are. Most of their beers are rated well on here so I'll give them a benefit of a doubt, but this could have made a better first impression on me.

This one pours a hazy golden yellow, with a small head and lots of lacing.

This one smells like hop burn, pineapple rind, chive, sharp grassiness, and grapefruit.

This is not my favorite. There was a significant hop burn to this one - it’s very distracting. I don’t get much interesting hop flavor - just that white and chivey bitterness.

This is medium bodied, with a fairly decent lingering bitterness on the back end. There’s not a great drinkability to this.

I’ve had better from these guys. This is definitely disappointing.
