On tap at Southside Espresso (Houston, TX), served in a shaker pint. Slightly hazy copper hue with a slight head of white foam and nice rings of lace. Yeasty, malty ale aroma with some spice and fruit. More complexity in the flavor with a good toasty malt backbone supporting some nice herbs and spice (peppercorns especially), hints of alcohol, earthy hops and crisp bitter close. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A hoppy ale providing a nice break from an ocean of IPAs.

Appearance: Arrives slightly hazy, the amber liquid capped by a tall head; shards and clumps of lacing linger
Smell: Stone fruit, apple, white pepper, yeasty phenols - all underpinned by a hint of treacle
Taste: Stone fruit, up front, with a peppery, herbal edge; apples with a touch of cinnamon emerging, the treacle builds, through the middle, along with earthy hops that leave a lingering, bitter quality to complement the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: Came here to try this beer based on Champ’s recommendation in a Houston thread and glad I made the stop; you don’t see many craft breweries tinkering with a style like this, sadly

A: Pours with a slight chill haze, that clears up after a minute. An orange/golden color. At first a dense two finger white head forms and recedes to a ring that sticks throughout. Light lace.
S: I love the peppery, and slightly phenolic yeast up front. Fruity, maybe apple skins? Crackers and light grains in the nose, followed by an earthy tea like hop character.
T: Like the nose, peppery with light phenols up front. Again fruity, with just a touch of apple skin, and even a very nice light tartness. This becomes a bit more sweet, caramel. maybe some sugar. Grains, and earthy hops in the finish. That becomes a little bitter. Everything is very subtle here. but really well balanced and surprisingly a lot going on.
M/O: A light to medium body. Beautiful carbonation. That is effervescent, crisp, and supper clean. I have come back to this several times since it has been released. Something that keeps getting better each time I have it.
This is one of those offerings that is subtle, but deceptively complex. More nuances comes out each time I have a new pint, and it makes me want to keep coming back again and again. Really well done, and a very nice example of Biere De Garde.

Poured from tap into shaker, good 1 finger light Amber head, soso retention and good lacing. Clear light amberish in the glass. Mild Belgian phenols on the nose, mainly fruity. Taste fruity and spicy up front, some Belgian Candi sugar sweetness, round smooth finish, mild bitterness. Good mouthfeel, great drinking beer, minimal carryover on the finish, excellent beer for food
