Pours a ruby-brown with a finger of off-white foam. Head is more fizzy than foam. Aroma is herbal, resin, and syrup hops and caramely malts. There is a little boozy burn. Flavor profile is resiny, sticky, piney, herbal hops with caramely, bready malts. A bit of heat sticks to the end. Mouth feel is medium-thick and sticky. Overall, sticky and hot.

Poured from tap into sniffer, good 1/2 finger light tan head, good retention and lacing. Dark amber in the glass, some light filters thru. Smells of caramel, toffee and slight citrus twang. Taste follows the nose, initially sweet malt, followed up with caramel, toffee and hops bring a citrus brightness to the party. Not hot for a 10.5, but some alcohol warmness. Good viscous mouthfeel.

Another one of Holler's Anniversary beers. This is a big dry hopped barleywine.
A: Pours a near opaque golden/orange color. A dense two finger white head forms with good retention and plenty of lace left behind.
S: Big pungent hop aroma up front. Pine, citrus, grapefruit. Toasted and caramel malts lingering. For as big as this is, this is well balanced. Like a more balanced Bigfoot.
T: Like the nose, the pungent hop flavors are up front, at almost a DIPA level. Pine, citrus, grapefruit. With the requisite bitterness. Then the malt character comes in. Toasted, caramel, bread, dark fruit. Even burnt sugars with plenty of sweetness. It is all very big indeed, but somehow still balanced well.
M/O: A big full body. Moderate carbonation that is still crisp. Though very smooth, and almost sticky. A bit of alcohol heat, but not bad considering. This is just a big warming sipper.
Yep, I like this. Appropriately weighty, with all the big flavors lots of hops and lots of malts brings. Though still very much balanced as nothing becomes overbearing. A good take on a big hoppy American Barleywine that isn't really being made by a lot of breweries now.
